Energy really is a business cost that you have a lot of control over. If you put in a bit of effort, then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to cut down on your bills by a huge amount without having to worry about impacting your business operation overall. If you want to find out more then take a look below.
Switch off your equipment
The first thing that you need to do is turn off or unplug any equipment you have. You need to do this at the end of the day when everything is out of use. You need to unplug things like vending machines, microwaves and other office equipment if you can. When you do this, you will soon find that your energy bills are drastically reduced and that you are able to capitalise on huge cost savings.
Recycling might not count towards energy efficiency, but it certainly helps the environment. If you want your business to be greener, then you need to recycle as much as possible. Cutting down on the amount of fuel you use can also be helpful. If you need to store fuel then look into a manual fuel transfer pump as this can prevent spillages and waste.
You might not know this, but a lot of your devices will come with energy-saving modes and features. It’s important that you activate them when you can. Screensavers might look nice but you should also try and avoid them as well. When you use a screensaver, you will be forcing your screen to stay turned on for way longer than required and this is the last thing that you want.
Turn off the lights
This may sound like an obvious thing to do, but you would be surprised at how many people leave the lights turned on by accident when they leave the room. This is understandable and sometimes it cannot be helped, but you do need to do something about it if you can. It’s helpful for you to try and install an automatic shut-off timer for your lights if possible. A lot of them are motion-activated, so when someone enters the room, the lights turn on and if there is no movement then they turn off again, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Turn down the heating
Sure, you don’t want your team to be cold, but you do want to make sure that you are doing whatever you can to try and cut down on bills where possible. If you want to do this, then turn your thermostat down by a degree or two. When you do this, you will soon find that you can save up to 10% on your bills.
Your energy efficiency
If you can, you need to make sure that you improve the energy efficiency of your building. You can do this by getting a thermostat which can be programmed to your requirements. You can also invest in LED lighting. When you do things like this, you will soon find that you can capitalize on the savings and that it is very easy to make a positive change.
