Businesses have taken a hit throughout this pandemic, so this year we have decided it’s the year for small businesses to make a comeback and take the market by storm. If you are a little unsure as to how you should go about growing your small business then don’t worry we have got you covered. Take a look at our suggestions below.
Make or revise your business plan
If you don’t have a business plan already then you should think about creating one. A business plan is there to help you have a clear idea on where you want your business to be in one, five or ten years. There are many business plan templates online that can help guide you when writing yours. If you already have one then take this as an opportunity to have a look and see if your goals still align, if not adjust your plan accordingly.
Work on your website
Take a look at your website and if it needs updating. The way we brand our companies online is continually changing and it’s important to keep up to date with current designs and website codes. Ensure your website is easy for the customer to use and that it is optimized for every device. You want your customers to have a pleasant experience when visiting your site, if there is too much going on it can be confusing for the customer to navigate your site. To earn a little more money you can insert ads on to your webpage, you will then earn money from pay per click. A couple of relevant ads are fine, but try not to overload your site with too many of them as this can deter customers from revisiting.
Get on social media
If you are not on social media where have you been? Social media is one of the top ways to get your business seen. Most people are on at least one platform whether that be LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter or most recently TikTok. Choose two social media platforms to put your business on, having too many can be a lot of work, so unless you have a dedicated employee to manage your social media accounts then just stick to the two. The social media platforms allow you to speak to your consumers directly, post important business updates and set target advertisements to encourage new customers to visit your website.
Promote your business
Promoting your business will get you more customers leading to your business growing. As said above social media is a great place to get your business seen, so start promoting your business there with their marketing advertising campaigns. If your business isn’t well known enough to warrant building a website then selling your product on sites like Etsy and On The Highstreet are good alternatives. You can then start promoting etsy shops or another ecommerce website on your social media platforms. If you are providing a service then online directories are a great way to promote your business, look at online directories such as Yelp, Yellowpages or Yahoo.
