If you own a business, it is inevitable that you will go through times when it is very stressful. It can be stressful when you have too much on and not enough time, and just as stressful when you don’t have enough work or money coming on. Yet it is important to remember that this stress will pass and things will get better. There are also some things that you can do which will make it easier to bear and sort. If you find that you are getting stressed a lot at work, here are some of the top ways you can get on top of this and try to reduce the amount of time you feel this.

Get organized

When you are unorganized, it can make even simple tasks feel stressful. It could be that you have a meeting which you forgot to put in the diary and remember five minutes beforehand, or it could be that you have something important to do but you cannot find the files anywhere. No matter the issue, by becoming organized you can make life much easier for yourself. If you need to upgrade to the cloud to store your documents better, why not speak to an offsite or onsite it support services who can help you with this? Invest in a whiteboard or planner so you can clearly map out your tasks.

Learn to say no

When work comes in it can be tempting to say yes to everything at once as you have your eye on the goal. Unfortunately, this can mean that you end up with way too many projects on your roster and you don’t have the time to dedicate the effort and work they deserve to them all. Instead, learn to say no if your workload is just too much, or give the task to someone else on your team. This will keep the client happy and also help to eliminate your stress too.

Prioritize tasks and manage expectations

When you are doing work for a client it is vital that you manage their expectations. You don’t want to let a client down, so it is important you underpromise and over deliver, rather than the other way round. There is nothing worse than telling them you will have their work done for them by a date only to not have it ready. Instead if you tell them a date and get it done a few days before that, it reflects much better on you. Prioritize the tasks that have earlier due dates and try to tackle your larger tasks first. This will give you a much better indication of how much time you can spend on different projects.

These are just a few things that you can do to reduce your stress at work. Recognize that these feelings are totally normal but that you don’t want to be stressed all of the time. What are some of your top tips for dealing with business stress? How do you deal with these? Let us know!
